SATURDAY, JUNE 5 FREE FISHING
WEEKEND (No fishing license needed this weekend)
11:00am- BASICS OF FISHING- Do you know the difference between a Palomar
and a
Trilene knot? Join us as we practice some fishing basics, such as knot
tying, casting,
and fish identification. VC
1:00pm-4:00pm-BRONNENBERG HOUSE OPEN - This historical house is open for
touring.
1:30-2:30pm FREE RIVER FISHING- Never been fishing? Now is your chance
to try it free. Join us riverside to practice or show-off your technique
and learn new fishing tips. Bring your fishing gear and shoes you don’t
mind getting wet; we’ll have some bait and a few extra poles on hand.
Parents must accompany children. Meet at Canoe Launch
7:30pm-CASTING COMPETITION- Show off your casting skills and play our
“closest to the target” casting competition. Great prizes awarded. Meet
behind the Campground shower building.
SUNDAY, JUNE 6 FREE FISHING WEEKEND (No fishing license needed this

1:00pm-4:00pm-BRONNENBERG HOUSE OPEN- This historical house is open for
touring.
2:00pm- CREEK STOMP – Come prepared to get your feet wet as we explore
small creeks and White River. We’ll investigate the aquatic insects that
tell us if the river is getting cleaner. Wear old tennis shoes or river
sandals. 50-minute moderate hike. VCP
THURSDAY, JUNE 10
7:00pm- FRIENDS OF MOUNDS STATE PARK - Get involved and see what the
park is planning next! Join a committee, attend one of the many programs
and special events, or just make some new friends! Refreshments
provided. VC
SATURDAY JUNE 12
1:00pm-4:00pm-BRONNENBERG HOUSE OPEN - This historical house will be
open to the public for touring. See our plans for restoration.
2:00pm – DUTCH OVEN COOKING DEMONSTRATION– Don’t settle for campfire
hotdogs
the next time you go camping. Learn how to use a dutch oven – and if you
already have
a dutch oven, consider bringing it and helping us prepare the meal.
Bring a lawnchair and join us in the Campground for this demo and supper
at 5pm (you need not be a camper to join us.)
**The cooking demonstration is free and open to the public after paying
the park entrance fee.
5:00pm- DUTCH OVEN SUPPER – We’ll serve a full-course meal, including
meat, vegetable, potato, and dessert, all prepared in dutch oven
kettles. Supper $6/adult and $3/child 10 and under. Pre-register by
calling (765) 649-8128; space is limited. Bring your money and lawn
chair the day of.
SUNDAY JUNE 13
11:00am- ALIEN INVASION! – Did you know that aliens are invading Mounds
State Park? And not the good kind! Discover the alien plants and animals
that invade our forests. 50-min easy hike. VCP

2:30pm- EAB BASH – The Emerald Ash Borer beetle (EAB) is attacking our
beautiful Indiana ash trees. Discover what you can do to help, and take
a swing at our EAB piñata! Great freebies and prizes. VCP
SATURDAY, JUNE 19 – SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
11:00am- BASSWOOD BRACELETS – Learn how to make a bracelet from the
basswood tree and you can take one home with you too. 30-min VC
1:00pm-4:00pm-BRONNENBERG HOUSE OPEN - This historical house is open for
touring.
2:00pm- ATLATL THROWING DEMONSTRATION – Discover how the pre-historic
Adena hunted
on the land that is now Mounds State Park. Try your hand at spear
throwing. VCP
8:30pm – SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION – Join us for an evening stroll to
the Great Mound where ancient cultures celebrated the Summer Solstice
event. Discover the amazing accuracy of the mounds and the meanings
behind their alignment, ending with a luminary hike. 1 hr program and
easy hike. VCP
SUNDAY, JUNE 20 FATHER’S DAY
12:30pm- DISCOVER, CONNECT, EXPLORE! - The Hoosier Quest
Series offers individuals and families the opportunity to earn patches,
bandannas, pins, and other items - all while enjoying nature and culture
at Indiana's state parks and reservoirs! After the 15 minute
introduction to the program, you'll have the option to stay longer and
complete a couple of the requirements. VC

2:30pm - OH DEER! – Join us as we go in search of our four-legged
friend. We’ll discover their place in the forest and play a couple games
along the way. 50-min easy hike. VCP
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 through FRIDAY, JUNE 25
NATURALIST DAY CAMP!
This four-day camp has been specifically designed for children ages 8 to
10. Participants will experience Mounds State Park through Naturalist’s
eyes. Enjoy educational programs that include games, hikes, crafts,
snacks, and more. The fee for this program is $30.00 per child for the
entire camp. Space is limited, so register by 4:00pm on Friday, June 18.

crayfish, crawdad – these fun little “river lobsters” will amaze you.
Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. 50-minute easy hike. Meet at
the Campground Store.
8:00pm-RASCALLY RACCOONS- Let’s go in search of this masked bandit.
Bring your curiosity, but not your flashlights please. 50-min moderate
hike. Meet Behind Campground
SUNDAY, JUNE 27
11:00am- BUBBLES, BUBBLES EVERYWHERE –Bubbles are more than just fun,
many wild animals use bubbles to survive. Join us for this fun discovery
of bubbles in nature and you can try it too! 45-min. VCP
1:00pm-4:00pm-BRONNENBERG HOUSE OPEN - This historical house is open for
touring.
2:00pm- MOUNDS MUTTS – Before the dog days of summer really begin,
join us on this fun canine-friendly hike. Make a personalized doggie
bandana
and get free “pup-pops”. Dogs, make sure your humans remember to bring
their leashes.
